Orville and Minnie Long

Orvie, as he was called by those who knew him, was a farmer out of Augusta a short distance on the Kensington Road. He farmed six days a week, but not on the 7th day for it was the Lords. He was an elder in Augusta Christian Church.
Harley {Brown} worked for him on his farm and always respected Orvie. I remember Orvie for his stand on small colored chairs I wanted to purchase for the young children in the church when I was Superintendent when I was about 16 years of age. Orvie vetoes such unnecessary and frivolous expenditures for he said he sat on benches when he went to Sunday School and he saw no reason for these gaudy little chairs I had in mind. We didn't purchase the chairs.
Minnie, an old maid when I first knew her, was gathered up by Orvie and became his wife. They were both nice and made a nice pair.
